My Flower book (30): tulips in Gien vase March 6, 2011

A bouquet of Tulips can always cheer up an interior.

I arranged this bouquet of tulips in a Gien Vase of the collection “Mille Fleurs”, one of the most famous “demi-lune” vases that I purchased in Gien, the factory of store of the faience brand.

My flower book (26): latest arrangements November 20, 2010

I have been  very busy recently but I’ve never stopped doing floral arrangement each week.

In fact, after a stressing and exhausting week, my biggest pleasure and the best way to relax is to buy some flowers and arrange a bouquet.

Here I post some of my latest bouquets.

My flower book (19): Lilies February 3, 2010

Lily is not favorite flower. Generally I prefer small naturel style fragile-looking flowers with irregular petals and foliage. As you can see, the lily flower has noting to do with the style I described. The only sort of lily I like is the longiflorum which has long, narrow and cream-colored flowers.

However, when I saw these orange lilies with their cute little buttons, I felt very keen to decorate my hall with them. I knew that with the heat at home, the buttons would be open very soon and this can last all the week, maybe even longer. In order to have a denser bouquet, I have chosen white Peruvian lilies and arranged them lower than the lilies.

Usually we pick off pistil of lily because pollen can stain the flowers. Here I have left them because I like their brown color with give a dynamic touch to the bouquet.

My Flower Book (16) : Merry Christmas December 21, 2009

Christmas is coming !

Although the sunflower does not blossom in winter, its bright yellow color is so gay to warm the cold winter and to decorate the holidays, I chose it for my Christmas decoration this week. The sequined foliage is perfect to give more Christmas atmosphere…

Besides the small Christmas tree, I arranged a another bouquet with floral foam. Red and green are Christmas’s colors too.

Merry Christmas !

ITIS Gallery June 24, 2009

The name of “ITIS Gallery” appeared with Christian Tortu when I searched in Google.

It is a Ukrainian lifestyle concept store (let’s call it like that, since “concept stores” are in vague in these days) which offers “not just a collection of interior items, but a special quality of life, individual style.” But this has nothing to do with Tortu, of course.

The famous French florist works with the gallery for their floristic division launched since 2005. “ITIS Gallery Home of Flowers is a unique brand in Ukrainian floristic market which represents well-defined style following well-famous French floristic school.” (I thought that the most famous floral art schools were in Holland…)

Any way, I find the idea interesting. Flowers and bouquets are bound to decorate interiors, and it is so natural to demonstrate flowers with furniture and design objects. Design and floral art, each improves the standing of the other. High end florist brands are rare even in a big capital like Paris, and there is only one Christian Tortu. I can imagine how the gallery is perceived in Ukraine as a prestigious French style place.

Besides, they edit also a lifestyle magazine called “Ya”, which can be qualified as “editorial communication” tool. It is also a way to promote Western European lifestyle, to educate consumers and to expand the brand’s name.

A good idea is 50% of the success.
