Sharing Yan’s passion for flowers

Modern floral design at Bernhard Willhelm fashion show October 5, 2009

Paris – Spring Summer 2010 Womenswear Fashin Week

The German designer Bernhard Willhelm gave a very “floral” fashion show – not that he used floral patterns in his designs but a great number of modern floral design creations were used to decorate models’ hairdress and to accessorize the clothes.

That would be great for any florist to work on such a project.

The latest issue of French Magazine Numéro (Group Alain Ayache) is entitle “Végétal”, or Vegetative in English. The magazine defines itself  as “the international magzine of fashion”, but it is quite different from other fashion or feminine magazines. Each issue has a theme that directs all the categories. In this 103 issue, flowers and plants are stars through all the articles and photo shots in fashion, beauty, jewelry and all others columns.

For example, we discover the rose shoe of Roger Viver, inspired by Ikebana; the range “Splendide” skincare of Annick Goutal which incorporates Active Rose Serum in all the products, as well as others vegetative elements, etc.

At this period of financial crisis and pandemic, flowers are just indispensable for bucking up.

This spring is definitely flower.

The French fashion label Cacharel, which earned its reputation for the floral print cotton shirts and dresses “Liberty” in the 1970’s, produced a re-edited collection for the label’s 50’s anniversary. The collection is composed of cute english dresses, scarfs, blouses and bloomers, stuffed bunnies, keyrings and Nike Blazers.

There is a concept store in Paris dedicated to the collection only during a few months, until late May (21 rue d’Uzès, 75002 Paris).

The charm of flowers will never die…
